Overhead Works on Lygon Street
Routes 1 and 8
Sunday 15 June 2008 – First tram to approx 4pm
Due to overhead wire works on Elgin and Lygon Streets, the following tram service changes will apply from first tram to approximately 4pm on Sunday 15 June 2008:
Route 1 trams will be replaced by buses between the corner of Swanston and Franklin Streets (tram stop 7) and the East Coburg Terminus (tram stop 135).
Route 8 trams will be replaced by buses between the corner of Swanston and Franklin Streets (tram stop 7) and the Moreland Terminus (tram stop 133).
Passengers for the following tram stops are advised to use the temporary bus stops nearby:
- Stop 2 – in Swanston St, 25m south of Grattan St
- Stop 7 – in Victoria St, 15m west of Swanston St (to Sth Melbourne/Toorak only)
- Stop 111 – in Elgin St, 75m east of Elgin Pl
- Stop 112 – in Elgin St, 25m west of Lygon St (to Sth Melbourne/Toorak only)
- Stop 112 – in Lygon St, 25m north of Elgin St (to East Coburg/Moreland only)
- Stop 135 – in Nicholson St, 75m south of Bell St (Route 1 terminus)
As the platform stop at Melbourne University (tram stop 1) is not suitable for buses, passengers are advised to use tram stop 2 – Grattan & Swanston Sts.
Passengers travelling on the tram replacement bus service will require valid Metcards.
