Routes 86 & 96
Saturday 19 July and Sunday 20 July 2008

Due to track works on Nicholson St, between Victoria Pde and Gertrude St, the following tram service changes will apply from first tram on Saturday 19 July to last tram on Sunday 20 July 2008:

Route 86 trams will be replaced by buses between the corner of Gertrude and Nicholson Sts (tram stop 12) and the corner of Albert and Nicholson Sts (tram stop 10). 

To assist with bus and tram connections, Route 86 tram services heading to Bundoora will run approximately 4 minutes later than the times shown on the timetable.

Route 96 trams will be replaced by buses between the corner of Albert and Nicholson Sts (tram stop 10) and the East Brunswick Terminus (tram stop 27).

The tram replacement bus service will follow the tram route.  Passengers for the following tram stops are advised to use the temporary stops nearby:

  • Stop 27 – in Nicholson St, 25m south of Blyth St
  • Stop 12 – in Nicholson St, 15m north of Gertrude St (to East Brunswick only)
  • Stop 12 – in Gertrude St, 15m east of Nicholson St (to city only)
  • Stop 11 – in Nicholson St, 15m south of Victoria Pde (still open to City Circle trams only)
  • Stop 10 – in Albert St, 15m west of Nicholson St (to city only)
  • Stop 10 – in Nicholson St, 25m south of Albert St (to East Brunswick only)

On Saturday 19 July 2008 City Circle trams will run a shortened route, operating between the corner of Swanston and La Trobe Sts and the corner of Flinders and Russell Sts, via La Trobe St, Harbour Esp and Flinders St.  City Circle trams will run as per normal on Sunday 20 July 2008.

The extra tram services for the football at Telstra Dome on Saturday and Sunday that normally run via Bourke St will run via La Trobe St.

Passengers travelling on the tram replacement bus service will require valid Metcards.
