Exhibition Review

This is no ordinary exhibition!  The latest offering from ACMI, the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, lets you play your way through the history of video games.  Even before you see anything, your ears will detect the bleeps and whirs reminiscent of a games arcade when you were younger.  And you’re not just allowed to play… you are encouraged to!  There are over 125 games here so there really is something for every age group.  Leave enough time to explore them all (you may have to wait at some games).

It’s not just games though.  You can see the arcade console from Jaws – the first link between movies and games.  Also concept sketches of game characters, drawings of how a game is created plus heaps of interesting facts and figures.  But in the end, it’s all about the games.  Whether you want to re-live a part of your childhood or just see how much has changed from simplistic “Pong” to the latest Nintendo, this is great family fun.  This show has come a long way from London for its only Australian showing so don’t miss it!
