Clement Michel

Chief Operating Officer

Clement Michel joins Yarra Trams as the new Chief Operating Officer.

His extensive expertise in management of change, operational management, and transport economics will greatly enhance the performance and efficiency of Melbourne’s tram network.

Clement was recently an International Manager of Projects for Keolis and prior to that was the SNCF (Société Nationale des Chemins de fer français, French National Railways) Director for Gare de Lyon in Paris.

SNCF operates almost all of France's railway system, including the TGV , Paris's Transilien suburban rail network. SNCF employs approximately 180,000 people, manages about 32,000 km of track and operates some 14,000 services a day.

As manager of Paris Gare de Lyon, Clement was responsible for France’s station, with about 30.91 million passengers a year using the station. In this role Clement was responsible for the management of more than one thousand employees and was able to improve punctuality, quality of service and commercial turnover during extensive renovations works and the Rugby World Cup.

Clement has extensive experience in network operations, having worked as Head of Montpellier Traffic Management Centre for SNCF

His international management experience as global Head of project & Secretary to the board for Lufa- Saint-Gobain China in Donghai in Jiangsu province will greatly enhance the capability of Yarra Trams to manage major rolling stock and infrastructure projects. In this role Clement successfully established a US$3.5 million Franco-Chinese joint-venture company, producing sand for the glass industry and worked on the start up of a US$120 million flat-glass processing plant.
