Tram Track Maintenance & Renewal

Yarra Trams is continuously maintaining Melbourne's tram tracks to improve safety and reliability and to reduce journey times.

To date Yarra Trams has renewed 19.1km of double track (including 6km in 2006/07) and introduced rubber boot technology to reduce vibration and wear of tracks, resulting in less noise, longer durabilitiy and improved ride for passengers.

We have also reconstructed tram depot facilities at Brunswick, Glenhuntly, Malvern, Kew and Essendon.

More recently, we have completed renewal works in Church Street, Bridge Road, St Kilda Road and Lygon Street.
