Yarra Trams quirky Beware The Rhino pedestrian safety campaign is proving to be a big hit with over 2300 people 'liking' the Rhino on Facebook and more than 10,000 viewing the advertisement on YouTube.
The campaign, which asks pedestrians to look, listen and be alert around trams, has been supported by a number of public appearances around Melbourne by Yarra Trams own life-sized Rhino 'Spike'.
Hundreds of people have flocked to Spike's public appearances at Melbourne Uni, RMIT, Deakin, Victoria Gardens, City Square and the State Library to have their photo taken and to learn more about tram safety. Rhino themed T-shirts, badges and postcards have proved a huge hit and fans of Spike have been seen sporting them around the city over the last few weeks.
Facebook users can be in the running to win prizes including an iPad2 by visiting bewaretherhino.com. A second round of promotional visits for Spike will be announced soon.
