Yarra Trams staff and passengers have contributed nearly $85,000 to this year's Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
A year's worth of fundraising for the kids throughout the company culminated in the cheque being presented live on Channel 7's telecast of the Good Friday Appeal telethon from Etihad Stadium.
Our staff continued the fundraising on Good Friday with a stall at the Kids Big Day Out, selling food and Yarra Trams merchandise including the now world famous Beware The Rhino shirts.
$47,500 was raised in the recent tram faces promotion, run with the support of 3AW's Neil Mitchell Program. Many of the other funds raised came from Yarra Trams staff through direct donations, raffles and other fundraising efforts.
Yarra Trams is a long term supporter of the Royal Children's Hospital. Our mascot Jake regularly visits the hospital to lift the spirits of sick children. We recently upgraded the accessible stop outside the new Royal Children's Hospital to make it a 'kid-friendly' environment, with games to put a smile on the faces of children.
You can make tax deductible donations to this year's Good Friday Appeal until the end of June at goodfridayappeal.com.au. The 2011/12 Appeal has already raised more than $15 million for the hospital.
