May 2017 performance results
Yarra Trams delivered 98.34 per cent of services in May with
79.74 per cent of services arriving on time. Network punctuality
improved each week throughout May.
Tram operations in May were affected by a number of external
incidents. There were four incidents involving trucks in one week -
three collisions with trams and one collision with overhead
These included a truck to tram collision which derailed a tram
and affected Route 58 services for 10 hours, and a truck which
damaged overhead wires and affected Route 82 services for seven
hours. This is a reminder for all road users to be aware of safety
and to check for trams before turning.
Additional services were operated in May for a number of special
events including concerts and AFL, netball and rugby union
Trams share the city's roads and traffic congestion is the
leading factor affecting tram performance, which is why we continue
to work closely with our on-road partners including VicRoads to
find ways to make journey times more reliable.
Yarra Trams manages the network in real-time to adjust to the
road conditions and help people to safely get to where they want to
