March 2016 performance results

08 April, 2016

Yarra Trams' service delivery in March was fairly consistent with the same time last year, with 98.56 per cent of timetabled services delivered. Punctuality improved year-on-year, and was a strong result for March, with 83.7 per cent of these services arriving on time. Our improvement in punctuality year-on-year was due to the implementation of seasonal timetables, planning work, and great performance over the Easter period. Tullamarine Freeway Widening has had a notable effect on services since late last year, in particular to Line 59. As this work extended just before Easter from the Bolte Bridge to Westgate Freeway interchange, there has been significant impacts to Line 59 and 19 which are expected to continue. Between 12 March to 20 March 2016 Yarra Trams delivered services for a wide range of events as part of a massive special events season. On Sunday 20 March tram services were successfully delivered to a number of large concurrent events including Grand Prix, Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show (MIFGS), Run for the Kids, as well as a planned Palm Sunday rally. The St Kilda Road and Commercial Road renewal occupation were also delivered in March, which included important track upgrade works.

Punctuality improved year on year, and was a good result for February, with 81.91 per cent of these services arriving on time. Our improvement in punctuality year on year, was due to the implementation of seasonal timetables and planning work. A number of third-party road incidents impacted services this month, including a truck rollover at the intersection of Flinders and Spencer Streets, which affected a number of lines on the network. Major events including White Night and St Kilda Festival were successfully delivered in February, transporting thousands of people to these events.
