August 2016 performance results

10 September, 2016

Yarra Trams delivered 98.82 per cent of services in August with 83.32 per cent of services arriving on time. This was down on recent performance with major impacts from traffic diverting around the Tullamarine freeway widening works and rolling stock availability pressures due to the retirement of the Z-Class trams. The typical impact of rallies in the CBD, adverse weather, and third party incidents also contributed to performance outcomes. We continue to provide additional services for sporting events including for the upcoming AFL Finals Series. The tram part of the works to provide an updated, pedestrian-friendly streetscape with a new public plaza and a level-access Route 96 tram terminus on Acland Street are on schedule for completion and the extra terminus capacity will increase our resilience at this location. For longer term improvement initiatives, we are forging a stronger partnership with VicRoads to enhance tram priority at key locations.
