As part of the modernisation of Melbourne's tram network, Yarra Trams will be renewing the overhead wires in South Melbourne on Sunday 9 and 23 September 2012. The following service changes will apply: Route 1 tram services will operate as Route 1A between East Coburg and Stop 14 Arts Precinct (To East Coburg, trams will commence at Stop 16 Southbank Boulevard) Tram replacement buses will operate between Stop 14 Arts Precinct and the South Melbourne Beach terminus. Tram replacement buses will operate along the normal tram route. At platform stops, tram replacement buses will stop at temporary kerbside stops. Due to these changes, tram services will operate to their normal frequency, however they may not arrive at the scheduled time. Yarra Trams suggests that you allow extra time for your journey. Please note that further works are planned for October. Thank you for your understanding as we build for the next 100 years of Melbourne's trams.
