As part of the modernisation of Melbourne's tram network, Yarra Trams will be renewing tram tracks in Swan Street between Park Grove and Yarra Boulevard from Saturday 9 to Monday 11 June 2012. Route 70 tram services between Waterfront City Docklands and Wattle Park will operate as Route 70a - Wattle Park via Bridge Rd - diverting via Flinders Street, Wellington Parade, Bridge Road, Burwood Road and Power Street in both directions. Special Swan Street shuttle tram services will operate as Route 70a between Stop 5 Elizabeth and Flinders Streets, and a temporary tram stop near Park Grove and Swan Street. This shuttle service is for customers heading to or from Swan Street Richmond and Burnley. The following tram stops will not be serviced during these works:
Due to these changes, tram services will operate to their normal frequency however, they may not arrive at the scheduled time. Yarra Trams suggests that you allow extra time for your journey. Customers that want to travel from Swan Street to Riversdale Road should consider changing to a Route 78/79 tram in Church Street to connect with the Route 70a to Wattle Park in Bridge Road, or catch a Metro Trains service.
