The accessible stops will be constructed by the City of Melbourne.
From first tram Saturday 5 May to last tram Sunday 6 May the following tram service changes will apply.
Routes 1 (from South Melbourne Beach), 3a, 5, 6, 8 (from Toorak), 16, 64, 67 and 72 tram services will terminate at Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station.
Routes 1 and 8 (from East Coburg and Moreland) will terminate at Stop 112 Elgin and Lygon Streets. A tram replacement bus service will operate between Lygon Street and Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station.
Passengers travelling north can board the bus at a kerbside tram replacement bus stop near Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station outside the State Library. The bus will travel via La Trobe Street, Elizabeth Street, Lonsdale Street, Russell Street and Lygon Street to connect with Route 1 and 8 tram services at Stop 113 Lytton Street.
Passengers from Route 1 and 8 tram services travelling south can board the bus at a kerbside tram replacement bus stop near Stop 112 Elgin and Lygon Streets. The bus will travel via Lygon Street, Russell Street and La Trobe Street to connect with southbound Swanston Street tram services at Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station.
Tram services will operate to their normal frequency however, they may not arrive at the scheduled time due to these service changes. Yarra Trams suggests that you allow extra time for your journey.
