Run Melbourne - Sunday 21 July

Altered services will run on Route 8 and Route 70 trams from first service Sunday 21 July until approximately 11am due to the Run Melbourne event.

The event course extends from Federation Square, around the Botanical Gardens, over the Yarra River and returns past the MCG. The course requires road closures which affect trams.

Route 8 trams will operate as Route 8a between the Moreland terminus and the intersection of Commercial and St Kilda roads (note: this is not normally a Route 8 stop).

Buses will replace trams between the intersection of Bowen Crescent and St Kilda Road and the Toorak terminus. Buses will travel via St Kilda Road and Toorak Road. Route 8 tram stops 21 to 26 will not be serviced due to road closures.

The following tram stops will be replaced with temporary kerbside bus stops:

  • Stop 26 - in Toorak Road, 15 metres from Park Street (to Toorak only)
  • Stop 43 - in Toorak Road, 15 metres

Route 70 will operate as Route 70a in two sections between:

  • Waterfront City Docklands and Stop 6 Russell Street and Flinders Street
  • Wattle Park and Stop 7B Rod Laver Arena

To connect between the two sections passengers may wish to consider taking a train between Flinders Street and Richmond railway stations.

During the change, trams will operate to the normal frequency. However, they may not arrive at the scheduled time. Yarra Trams suggests you allow extra time for your journey.
