Route 1, 3a, 5, 6, 8, 16, 55, 64, 67 & 72 - Public Event - Monday 14 March

Service changes will be in place on Routes 1, 3a, 5, 6, 8, 16, 55, 64, 67 & 72 from first tram to 2pm on Monday 14 March, due to road closures associated with the Moomba Parade and activities in Alexandra Gardens.

Service Changes:

Affected trams will operate with an "a" alongside their routes to reflect the changes.

Route Time Tram service changes
Route 1 9.30am to 2pm Trams will operate in sections between:
  • East Coburg and Stop 14 Arts Precinct 
  • Stop 17 Sturt St/Southbank Blvd and South Melbourne
Walk 300 metres/4 minutes to connect between the sections.
Route 8 & tram replacement bus First tram to 2pm

Between first tram and 9.30am, trams will operate between Moreland and Stop 13 Flinders Street Station. Customers for Toorak should take any tram (except Route 1) to Stop 21 St Kilda Rd at Bowen Cres to connect with tram replacement buses which will travel along Toorak Rd.

Between 9.30am and 2pm, customers should take diverting trams from Southbank Blvd at Sturt St to St Kilda Rd at Bowen Cres to connect with the replacement buses.

Tram stops in Domain Rd and Park St will not be serviced.

Route 55 9.30am to 2pm Trams will operate between West Coburg and Stop 114 City Rd/Kings Way. Customers travelling between Domain Interchange and City Rd can use diverting Route 3a, 64a, or 67a trams.
Route 5, 6, 16 & 72 9.30am to 2pm Trams will operate between the suburbs and Sturt St at Southbank Blvd, diverting via Park St, Kings Way and Sturt St. Customers for Swanston St should walk 300 metres/4 minutes to connect with trams operating between Stop 14 Arts Precinct and Stop 1 Melbourne University.
Route 3a, 64 & 67 9.30am to 2pm Trams will operate between the suburbs and Queen Victoria Market, diverting along Route 55  via Park St, Kings Way and William St. Customers for Swanston St should change at Domain Interchange for Route 5a, 6a, 16a or 72a trams to Sturt St at Southbank Blvd and walk 300 metres/4 minutes to connect with trams operating between Stop 14 Arts Precinct and Stop 1 Melbourne University.
Extra trams 9.30am to 2pm Extra trams will operate along the St Kilda Rd/Swanston St corridor between Stop 1 Melbourne University and Stop 14 Arts Precinct at a 6 minute frequency.

 

Service changes will also affect Transdev bus routes 216, 219 and 220.

During these changes, trams and replacement buses will operate to the Saturday frequency, however they may not arrive at the scheduled time. We suggest you allow extra time for your journey.
