Metro Tunnel works - St Kilda Rd - Sunday 1 April to Tuesday 17 April

Works in preparation for major construction of the Metro Tunnel are underway in South Melbourne. Service changes will affect St Kilda Road trams including Route 58, due to Metro Tunnel works for the new Anzac Station.

This project will keep Melbourne moving during construction of the Metro Tunnel Project.

Wednesday 18 April, first to last tram

Trams resume normal service along St Kilda Rd and Route 58 from first tram Wednesday 18th April.
Domain Interchange tram stop will be relocated north of Park St on St Kilda Rd and renamed Stop 20 Park St/St Kilda Rd.
Stop 20 Park St will be open from first tram on Thursday 19 April.
Passengers wishing to access the Domain precinct on Wednesday 18 April should use either Stop 19 Shrine of Remembrance, Stop 22 Toorak Rd or Stop 119 Wells St (Route 58 only).

Service changes

If you are travelling to or beyond Shrine of Remembrance catch any Route 6a or 67a tram via Swanston Street/St Kilda Road. Route 1 trams are unaffected.

Sunday 1 April, 8pm to last tram

Buses will replace Route 3/3a, 6, 16, 64, 67 and 72 trams between Stop 14 Arts Precinct and Stop 22 Toorak Rd.

8pm Sunday 1 April to last tram Tuesday 17 April

Buses will replace Route 58 between Stop 119 Wells Street and Stop 123 Fawkner Park.

Thursday 5 April, 9.30pm to last tram

Buses will replace Route 6 trams between Stop 14 Arts Precinct and High St/St Kilda Rd
Buses will replace Route 72 trams between Stop 14 Arts Precinct and stop 26 Alfred Hospital

Thursday 5 April, 10pm to last tram

Buses will replace Route 3/3a, 16, 64, and 67 trams between Stop 14 Arts Precinct and Stop 30 St Kilda Junction.

Friday 6 April to Tuesday 17 April, first to last tram

Buses will replace Route 3/3a, 5, 16, 64, and 67 trams between Stop 19 Shrine of Remembrance and Stop 25 Commercial Rd.

Buses will replace Route 6,trams between Stop 19 Shrine of Remembrance and High St/St Kilda Rd

Buses will replace Route 72 trams between Stop 14 Arts Precinct and stop 26 Alfred Hospital

Other info

Bus 216, 219, 220 and 605 may also be affected by service changes.

If possible avoid the area and consider alternative travel between the City and south eastern suburbs.

Access around Domain Interchange will be limited during this period. St Kilda Road passengers connecting with Route 58 can take any bus and change at Toorak Road.

Tram replacement buses will be accessible depending on availability. Customer Service Employees will be available for passengers requiring assistance on their journey.

Please expect up to 30 minutes additional journey time.

Changes following Metro Tunnel works

Domain Interchange will be relocated to north of Park Street on St Kilda Road and will be renamed Stop 20 Park Street/St Kilda Road. This is to further facilitate the construction of the new Anzac Station near the Shrine of Remembrance.

Anzac Station will be an important interchange station between train and tram services, providing access to existing business precincts and growing residential areas in Southbank, South Melbourne and the expanding CBD west.

The Metro Tunnel will create a new end-to-end rail line from Sunbury to Cranbourne/Pakenham, with high capacity trains and five new underground stations. The two stations under Swanston Street will be directly connected to the City Loop at Melbourne Central and Flinders Street stations.
